Sunday highlights: Lariyah, Da Coach

September 12, 2011 @ No Comments

Among the highlights of the opening Sunday in the NFL, one stood out like no other.

Given a choice of a photo of Mike Ditka or one of Lariyah Daniels, whom would you choose?

Of course, this perspective may vary from individual to individual, depending on one’s fan allegiance and/or fantasy-league interest.

It is the unanimous opinion of the editorial staff at elliottharris.com that the one moment in question came during a timeout in the Atlanta Falcons-Chicago Bears game. Well, that was the one on the television screen at the time. The moment probably came on all the other games being televised on Fox and elsewhere.

It was a TV ad for Chevrolet. Pretty exciting, huh? Well, it was for those of us who know Lariyah Daniels. She is the beautiful blond featured in the commercial about a guy and his truck.

The faithful readers (and even the philandering ones) of this site should be familiar with Lariyah from previous appearances, the most recent being from her initial effort in a figure/fitness/bikini diva/bodybuilding show. Well, that and her recent appearance on ”Sports & Torts” with attorney David Spada and some guy named Elliott Harris on talkzone.com.

Runner-up to Lariyah in the world of NFL highlights was the presence of Mike Ditka on the series finale of HBO’s ”Entourage.” Appearing with the former Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints coach was his agent, Steve Mandell, and former Wisconsin coach Barry Alvarez.

Da Coach had limited lines, but they were memorable. And probably not too difficult for Da Coach to remember. Speaking to a disheveled Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven), Ditka utters: “You look like shit. You been eatin’?”

A little later, Ditka delivers his final line in speaking of Ari, who has departed to see his estranged wife elsewhere at his offices: ”He’s a fuckin’ mess.”

OK, so he’s not going to win an Emmy for the performance, but the rest of the program just might.
