Peppers Signing With Packers Spices Rivalry

Sunday smorgasbord: Taking some medication to ward off winter woes can lead to occasional delusions. Like I had a dream Saturday that I was in a fast-food restaurant that had a college friend behind the counter and it was taking forever to get my food. So long, in fact, that I was going to miss the Monday Night Football game I was supposed to attend. Awoke from that dream, didn’t bother to try to analyze it and went back to sleep. For most of the day and evening.

Congratulations to Ashley Kaltwasser on winning another title. Video below.

* Speaking of football and delusions, then I thought I saw something on television that said the Green Bay Packers signed defensive end Julius Peppers to a three-year deal. Indeed that does seem true after the Chicago Bears cut him Tuesday. Of course, Peppers may be in Green Bay for less than three seasons, but he should be there long enough to say hello to Bears quarterback Jay Cutler more often than Cutler might want. Any Bears fans upset that he signed with the Packers shouldn’t blame him. He didn’t cut himself; the organization opted to go a different direction. He then opted to go a northernly direction.

* Something must be wrong with my eyes. I looked at the box score from the Bulls-Sacramento Kings game, and only one starter shot better than 50 percent from the field? Center Joakim Noah (9-of-15) led the Bulls with 23 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and five blocks in a 94-87 victory. One of these games he will have a quadruple-double. OK, so maybe I’m still a bit out of it, but I’ll still consider that a possibility.

* Being slightly awake, I turned on the television to see the Chicago White Sox playing the Los Angeles Dodgers. And Avisail Garcia hit a three-run home run off Clayton Kershaw to give the Sox a 5-4 lead that held up as the final score. Yeah, definitely time for more rest.

Here is where to go for a daily dose of non-gratuitous video (much better than a daily dose of antibiotics, if I may say so):
