LeBron No Match for MJ’s SI Covers and Coverage

February 15, 2013 @ No Comments

Fearless forecast: Sports Illustrated will not feature LeBron James on the cover of its print product when he turns 50 (the treatment being given to Michael Jordan whose birthday is Feb. 17). Not because James will not merit comparable cover treatment but because there will not be a print product for SI. Well, with the possible exception of the swimsuit issue.

Caryn Paolini is one of the Rock Star Bikini Contest finalists. And a scheduled “Sports & Torts” guest for an upcoming show. Stay tuned.

* The aforementioned former Bulls star will continue to receive endorsement deals for the rest of his life. You will know the end of the world is near when you see MJ in one of those television commercials for reverse mortgages. Can’t wait for him to appear on a Medicare supplement ad in a little more than a decade.

* Caryn Paolini (there she is in the photo to the right) will be on an upcoming “Sports & Torts” show. Sadly, she will not be wearing the outfit in the picture but in warmup attire.

* The Bulls without Derrick Rose will not be bad enough this season to earn a high draft pick.

* The Bulls with Derrick Rose will not be good enough to reach the NBA Finals. Well, not this season.

* Forward Luol Deng and center Joakim Noah, the Bulls’ representatives in Sunday’s NBA all-star game in Houston, will provide double-digit scoring off the bench. Well, they will if you add their point totals together.

* Brian Urlacher will play for an NFL team in 2013. The Chicago Bears will have a veteran middle linebacker in 2013. Urlacher will play for a reduced salary in 2013. The Bears like reduced salaries. Which means Urlacher will be playing for the Bears. Well, unless he’s not.

Samantha Slaven was an in-studio guest on “Sports & Torts” on Feb. 14.

Bikini competitor Samantha Slaven and Pro Football Hall of Fame receiver Charlie Joiner were the guests on the Feb. 14 edition of “Sports & Torts.” The show co-hosted by David Spada and Elliott Harris is live on Thursdays at noon on talkzone.com.

For those who missed it (and/or for those who would like to watch it again), you can click here.

Samantha, who once weighed 180 pounds, will be competing at the Arnold Classic that runs Feb. 28-March 3 in Columbus, Ohio.

Speaking of Columbus, that will be the site for the 2013 Rock Star Bikini Contest. The event is held at a club. As someone who attended the event for the first time last year, your humble correspondent highly recommends going.

The finalists for the 2013 Rock Star Bikini Contest have been selected. To see who made the elite list, you can click here. For those who do not click to the link, the finalists are: Paola Terry, Eve Freeman, Kelsey Byers, Elspeth Dana, Rita Catolino, Tracy Gramer, Tiffany Mast, Caryn Paolini, Andrea Gordon, Midori Rutledge, Jessica Valencia and Samantha Leete.

Something says your humble correspondent should do his best to provide coverage of the uncoverage that is the Rock Star Bikini Contest.
