Jaime’s Week 8 Picks/Pics Worth the Wait

October 30, 2011 @ No Comments

Party late into the night. Up early. It’s a hard life. Somehow Jaime Edmondson manages to handle it well. A little Playboy Mansion Halloween gathering Saturday night did not deter the Playboy Playmate from her appointed rounds that include tweeting her football forecast for Week 8 NFL games.

Jaime Edmondson is a horny unicorny. Or something like that for a Saturday night Halloween party.

Let it be noted that Jaime’s picks and pics may be found at her Twitter site: @jaimeedmondson. More of her sports-themed work is available as a weekly Play-By-Playmate column at playboy.com.

As long as we’re paying attention to figures, here is something less visually pleasing perhaps (OK, definitely less visually pleasing) but interesting to note from the statistical section of the NFL’s PR wing:

The Carolina-Minnesota game will feature Panthers rookie quarterback Cam Newtwon going against Vikings rookie QB Christian Ponder. It is the second time this season Newton is facing off against a fellow rookie first-round QB. He started against Jacksonville’s Blaine Gabbert in Week 3. Newton becomes the first rookie first-round QB pick to start twice against two first-round QBs from his draft class since the NFL instituted the common draft in 1967.

As some of you may recall, Jaime has posed in Newton’s football pants from his Auburn days. As if justification for anything in this space ever is necessary.

If Newton passes for 250 yards vs. the Vikes, he will become the fourth quarterback since 1960 to reach 250 passing yards in five games during his rookie season. The others are Peyton Manning (1998 Indianapolis Colts, 6 times), Sam Bradford (2010 St. Louis Rams, 5 times) and Matt Ryan (2008 Atlanta Falcons, 5 times).

OK, let’s get to Jaime’s picks for the games (and the accompanying pics, of course):

Early-game choices are Tennessee over Indianapolis, Houston over Jacksonville, New Orleans over St. Louis (well, most people in StL won’t be paying attention to the game, if that’s any consolation), Baltimore over Arizona, Carolina over Minnesota and Miami over the New York Giants (it should be noted once again that Jaime once was a Dolphins cheerleader and, as she tweets: “reminder folks this isn’t gonna change no matter who they play!”).

Because of circumstances beyond someone’s control (not Jaime’s fault, to be sure), her late-game picks/pics might not be posted until much, much, much later (if at all Sunday; occasionally multi-tasking proves too difficult around here). Of course, you always can go to her Twitter account to check out her late afternoon and Sunday night selections.
