Jaime Edmondson’s Week 10 Picks & Pics (updated)

November 13, 2011 @ No Comments

It’s not every week the Denver Broncos are the favorite to win a game. This is the week. As far as Jaime Edmondson is concerned. Which means the editorial staff at elliottharris.com definitely is concerned. At least to the extent of running a photo of the Playboy Playmate in team-themed attire for her Week 10 NFL picks.

It's hard to go against Jaime Edmondson's picks, although the Broncos?

Jaime posts his picks and pics on a game-by-game basis at her site on Twitter at @jaimeedmondson. As a public service, this site aggregates the selections and posts them. Not always before the early games kick off, but it’s the thought that counts. Plus this makes for one way to pass the time during commercial breaks, halftime, any time. OK?

And, as an added bonus (though not necessarily for fans of Jaime), this site will run a factoid or two or more to accompany. Hey, it’s the least we can do so that when someone asks what you are doing perusing this site, you can tell them you were looking up a statistic about Aaron Rodgers or someone or some team else.

As close as Jaime is to perfection (and there are those of us who view her as being perfect or extremely close to it), she will not be this week. She chose the Chargers to win Thursday night’s game vs. Oakland, and San Diego let her down. For her early Sunday games, Jaime’s picks (other than Denver over Kansas City): Jacksonville over Indianapolis, Philadelphia over Arizona, Houston over Tampa Bay, Atlanta over New Orleans, Dallas over Buffalo, Cincinnati over Pittsburgh, Carolina over Tennessee, Cleveland over St. Louis and her beloved Miami (she once was a Dolphins cheerleader) over Washington.

In the late-afternoon games, Jaime predicts: Baltimore over Seattle, San Francisco over the New York Giants and Chicago over Detroit. Sunday night: New York Jets over New England.

As promised, some statistical material from the NFL publicity department to justify browsing this site (as if justification is necessary):

* Green Bay quarter back Aaron Rodgers leads the league in several passing categories, including yards per attempt (9.88). He is on pae for the third-highest single-season yards-per-pass average (minimum 250 attempts) in NFL hiustory. His 9.88 average would rank behind Pro Football Hall of Famers Otto Graham (10.55 in 1953) and Norm Van Brocklin (10.14 in 1954).

* New York Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson needs 45 scrimmage yards against New England on Sunday night to surpass Pro Football Hall of Famer Barry Sanders (18,190) for fifth place all-time. The other players ahead of Tomlinson: Jerry Rice (23,540), Emmitt Smith (21,579) Walter Payton (21,264) and Marshall Faulk (19,154).

* New Orleans’ Drew Brees (50) and New England’s Tom Brady (39) rank in the top 10 for most 300-yard passing games. and can continue to climb up the all-time list in Week 10. Brees can tie Dan Fouts for fifth all-time with a 300-yard game vs. Atlanta. Brady can become the eighth player in NFL history with 40 300-yard games. The all-time leaders:

63: Peyton Manning, Dan Marino
62: Brett Favre
52: Kurt Warner
51: Dan Fouts
50: Drew Brees*
49: Warren Moon
39: Joe Montana, Tom Brady*
37: Drew Bledsoe
* Active in Week 10
