How Things Shape Up: NFL & Otherwise

January 6, 2012 @ No Comments

The NFL wild-card games are this weekend. Which means Chicago Bears fans, among many other teams’, just might find something better to do than sit around to watch the contests.

April Rose is occasionally angelic.

For those who actually are interested in postseason play, here are some tidbits from the league offices:

* The Pittsburgh Steelers-Denver Broncos game Sunday will mark the seventh postseason meeting between the teams. That’s third-most in NFL history. Tied for first at eight are Bears-New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys-Rams. Pittsburgh defeated Denver in 1978, 1984 and 2006. Denver prevailed in 1977, 1990 and 1998.

* The Broncos are the fifth team to start a season 2-5 or worse and reach the playoffs. They were 2-5 before finishing the season at 8-8. The others: 1970 Cincinnati (1-6) 8-6, 1990 New Orleans Saints (2-5) 8-8, 1995 Lions (2-5) 10-6, and 2002 New York Jets (2-5) 9-7.

* Wild-card teams to win the Super Bowl: 1980 Oakland, 1997 Denver, 2000 Baltimore, 2005 Pittsburgh, 2006 Indianapolis, 2007 Giants and 2010 Green Bay.

* Cincinnati’s Andy Dalton, Denver’s Tim Tebow, Detroit’s Matthew Stafford and Houston’s T.J. Yates will be making their first postseason starts. Quarterbacks with the most passing yards in their first postseason start are Kelly Holcomb (429), Aaron Rodgers (423), Randall Cunningham (407), Kurt Warner (391) and Neil Lomax (385).

Speaking of football, Heather Knox was on the Jan. 5 “Sports & Torts” program at talkzone.com with attorney David Spada and Elliott Harris. The January 2012 Playboy Playmate chatted about — among other topics — her hometown Indianapolis Colts and the Super Bowl coming to Indy. Heather will be at a Super Bowl party. Will it be in Indianapolis or elsewhere? Stay tuned.

You can access the interview with Heather (as well as ones with former Detroit Lions tight end Charlie Sanders and former NFL defensive back and television broadcaster Irv Cross) here.

Speaking of beautiful women, April Rose has another edition of “Maximum Exposure” for your (OK for anyone’s) perusal. A friend of this site, April figures to be seen on the Super Bowl scene when Maxim hosts its annual party. She also has a new “Guy Code” episode on MTV2 among her other activities.

Nobody asked, but … that never has stopped me, so why start now? Anyway, it’s one person’s opinion (actually probably many more than that number) that April’s fun Internet “Maximum Exposure” show could and should be expanded to more than a few minutes and find a place for it on cable television. Just a thought.

Still speaking of beautiful women, Ingrid Romero describes herself as a “cover model, Arnold Classic overall winner, fitness model, actress and professional bikini competitor originally from Spain and living in Los Angeles, California. Take a look at my new video!”

The editorial staff at elliottharris.com offers similar encouragement regarding the video. But only because photographer friend Don Bersano can be seen in a few scenes. Maybe next time he has an assignment like this he will ask for some assistance from your humble correspondent. Until then, this video will have to serve as the next best thing to actually being there:
