Hot Topics: Bears, Brewers, Maxim (updated video)

Random thoughts while wondering whether Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler can come back from a fractured thumb earlier than expected (most Bears fans will settle for Cutler being able to throw left-handed and with right hand in a cast):

Dominique Storelli is Maxim's 2011 Hometown Hotties winner. You were expecting a photo of Jerry Angelo?

* Bears general manager Jerry Angelo might want to start thinking of a backup plan regarding his career — because he sure didn’t have one as far as an understudy to Cutler. It doesn’t take a deep thinker to know you need some depth at quarterback.

* Among the best tweets on Monday in the aftermath of the Bears’ loss to the Denver Broncos was former Broncos and Oakland Raiders Bill Romanowski’s: Brian Urlacher made a huge disrespect to [Tim] Tebow by calling him a good RB. Well, Brian that good running back just beat a strong safety.

* Speaking on Denver radio Monday, Broncos legendary quarterback and the team’s executive vice president of football operations John Elway was asked about the Bears changing their defense late in the game: “I don’t know that they really changed their defense. They might have softened it a little bit. What I saw was they’re not a complicated defense anyway. They’re a very good defense, front seven is very good, and they don’t do a lot of things defensively. … They wanted to keep everything in front of them and I thought Tim did a good job checking things down. … I think if you look at the time of where they were coming from, it did make a little bit of sense. We were able to make the plays to get it.”

* Former Chicago Cubs third baseman Aramis Ramirez, who opted for free agency, signs with the Milwaukee Brewers. It’s a three-year deal or 100 errors, whichever comes first.

* Speaking of the Brewers, left fielder Ryan Braun says of failing a drug test and facing a 50-game suspension, “It’s BS.” Just a guess that it was something else that led to what reportedly has been described as the highest testosterone level in MLB history.
