Cavallari Doesn’t Want Son to Play Like Jay

January 30, 2013 @ No Comments

Midweek musings: Kristin Cavallari told DNAInfo.com she doesn’t want her son Camden with Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler to play football because of the dangers of the sport that include concussions (meaning brain injury). Waiting to hear Cutler say he doesn’t want his son to become a reality-television personality because of similar concerns.

Someone came up with a good mock Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover featuring Katherine Webb and Manti Te’o’s imaginary girlfriend.

* Super Bowl media day featured much of the same stuff as years past with goofy types trying to steal a share of the spotlight. And, of course, a fair share of attractive females. Welcome to media day, Katherine Webb. The girlfriend of Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron and Miss Alabama USA 2012, she was on hand as a reporter for TV’s “Inside Edition.” And for those who consider this mention as nothing more than an excuse to run a photo of her (in a mock Sports Illustrated cover), remember we pretty much can run what we want without going through all this verbiage.

* New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez reportedly has been taking performance-enhancing drugs. Again. Begging the question: Did he ever really stop, or did he merely pause while finding another outlet to obtain them?

* Speaking of performance-enhancing drugs and Super Bowl media day, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis denied using a banned substance. And not any banned substance. He denied using deer-antler spray. He’s retiring after the Super Bowl. Meaning any NFL action would occur after he no longer can be punished. Oh, deer.

* Speaking of linebackers, Bears veteran Brian Urlacher, 34, said he understands he will need to take a pay cut to stay with the team. Appearing on the “Waddle & Silvy” show on ESPN Radio, Urlacher said he plans to play in 2013 — whether it’s for the Bears or another team. Perhaps the Green Bay Packers? “I never pictured that, but you never know what’s going to happen,” he said. “I don’t know that I would want to do that, to tell you the truth.”

* Still speaking of linebackers (including Urlacher), Ravens linebacker Brendan Ayanbadejo spoke of playing with some of the best in NFL history: “Yeah I played with Urlacher, Ray Lewis, Junior Seau and Zach Thomas. … Everybody asks, ‘What linebacker was the best? Who’s the best? Who’s better?’ And I know you’re probably getting there but I say, ‘Why do I have to choose? I’ve had them all.'”

* Speaking of Ayanbadejo, he was in the news earlier in the season for coming out in favor of gay marriage. At media day, he said: “There are already gay players in the NFL. I don’t know when people will be ready. But hopefully they’ll be ready when it happens because it’s going to happen in an NFL locker room.”

* Speaking of dating and linebackers, Notre Dame football coach Brian Kelly on whether the hoax involving star linebacker Manti Te’o and his imaginary girlfriend affected his performance in the BCS championship game: “I really don’t know. … Maybe it did. Manti would know for sure.” Well, maybe only as sure as he was about having a girlfriend.

* Golf great Tiger Woods and skier Lindesey Vonn reportedly are dating. A Vonn rep issued a statement: “Lindsey is currently in the midst of the World Cup season in Europe. Her focus is solely on competing and on defending her titles and thus she will not participate in any speculation surrounding her personal life at this time.” It’s unclear how two people on two separate continent can date. Maybe Manti Te’o could help explain.

And this is the place where you generally can find fetching females in some sort of swimsuit. This is what the video-research department at elliottharris.com likes to think of as work.
