Bulls’ Rose Exercises Freedom of Expression

July 4, 2013 @ No Comments

Freedom of speech is one of many things Americans can celebrate on July 4. Hey, if such a freedom didn’t exist, you might not be able to read look at the photos and videos peruse what this site has to offer on a daily basis. And what a tragedy that would be.

Model Nina Agdal may not be American, but she conveys the July 4 theme.

Exercising his freedom of expression Wednesday (July 3) was Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose. The former NBA MVP provided a video interview with Bulls TV. Which, of course, meant every other media outlet was wondering why he couldn’t have conducted a session with it. Which, of course, he and/or those orchestrating his return from anterior-cruciate ligament surgery of more than a year ago didn’t want him to. Because there would have been too many questions and too few satisfactory answers.

That said, what he said wasn’t all that satisfactory either.

Of missing the 2012-13 season, Rose remarked: “It was hard. One of the hardest things I’ve had to go through in my life. After surgery, when you start running … when you have an injury like this, there is stages you have to go through, I’m still going through my stages. I’m not done yet, but this is the most I’ve ever worked on my craft and the most focused I’ve ever been in my NBA career.

“I’m not a selfish guy at all, but having this injury and going through what I had to go through and being smart, it’s something that I had to be selfish with. I couldn’t worry about anyone else but myself and my health.”

If it’s July 4, then it’s time for this classic shot of Joanna Krupa.

It would seem Rose has the worrying about himself part down quite nicely. To access the interview, you can click here.

Rose said he still is getting over the injury. He was cleared by doctors to return to the court months ago, well before the Bulls were eliminated from the postseason by the eventual NBA champion Miami Heat. Meaning the stumbling block to playing in something other than practice is yet to be overcome — from a psychological perspective.

Perhaps for Rose, his injury is like losing a loved one, much the way some people never “get over” the death of a parent, child, loved one. But that doesn’t stop the world from spinning. And time tends to diminish the pain and suffering that comes with much more serious situations than a surgical procedure.

Rose needs to get over whatever obstacle — physical or mental or both — that exists. And the only way to do that is by playing.

No matter how painful that might seem to him. Or whoever is making decisions about resuming his basketball career.

Hooray for the red, white and blue: And Tammy, too. As in pro wrestling’s Tamara “Tammy” Lynn Sytch.

April Rose (left) is welcome any July 4 (or any other day). So is Kelly Marie Campbell.

And, yes, there are more Sports Illustrated swimsuit model videos, too:
