Bulls’ Korver Proves a Point by Scoring 26

March 11, 2012 @ No Comments

Kyle Korver and Carlos Boozer used to play for the Utah Jazz. Given the way the two performed Saturday night for the Chicago Bulls, the Jazz just might be wishing they still did.

Starting in place of injured Luol Deng, Korver scored a season-high 26 points in a 111-97 victory at the United Center. Boozer had a game-high 27 points in a game-high 41:25 on the court. Korver played 39:28. Reigning NBA MVP Derrick Rose had 24 points in 35:24.

A photo of Luvabulls rookie Lauren or of Kyle Korver? No contest.

Also sitting out the game because of injuries for the Bulls were Joakim Noah, Richard Hamilton and C.J. Watson.

Korver — 10-of-16 from the field (6-of-11 three-pointers) — was coming off a 3-of-10 (1-of-7 on three-pointers) performance Thursday in a home loss to the Orlando Magic.

“He’s a pro’s pro,” Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said of Korver. “He will never stop shooting; nor do we ever want him to stop/ That’s his strength. WHen he has an open look at the three, we want him to take it all day, every day. In a very good way, he has a short memory. He always thinks the next one is going in.”

“He’s one of the best shooters in the league,” Jazz coach Tyrone Corbin said. “When he was here [on the Jazz], he hit many of the same shots for us. If he gets open and sets his feet, he’s going to make shots.”

The Bulls have not lost consecutive regular-season games since Feb. 5-7, 2011 — 75 games. That’s the longest such active streak in the league and the longest such streak in team history. Yes, even better than the Michael Jordan era Bulls. The Bulls’ other longest streaks:

* 72 games: Feb. 27, 1995-Feb. 4, 1996
* 61: Dec. 11, 1996-April 16, 1997
* 58: Dec. 13, 1997-April 13, 1998
* 55: Feb. 7, 1996-Dec. 7, 1996
