Bulls Green With Envy in Loss to Thunder

Random thoughts while wondering whether ignorance is bliss when it comes to filling out an NCAA tournament bracket:

Playboy's Nikki Leigh appears ready for some college basketball.

* On the bright side for the Chicago Bulls in their 97-85 loss to the visiting Oklahoma City Thunder, center Joakim Noah was one assist and one point away from a triple-double. OK, so there was no bright side. Unless you happened to like the green sleeved uniforms the Bulls wore for St. Patrick’s Day.

* Totally unfashionable for the Bulls (the uniforms aside) was their shooting. No player who took at least two field-goal attempts shot 50 percent or better. The Bulls missed 11 consecutive fourth-quarter shots when Oklahoma City went on a 16-1 run to break open a 76-75 game.

* Leading Oklahoma City was Kevin Durant (35 points), who has 32 consecutive contests with 25 or more points. Unimpressed? That’s the longest such streak since Michael Jordan – remember him? — had 40 in a row in the 1986-87 season. Durant had been tied with Spencer Haywood (1972-73). At 29 in a row: Durant (2009-10), Bob McAdoo (1974-75) and Oscar Robertson (1967-68).

* Speaking of MJ, the former Bulls star thinks his former coach Phil Jackson will be successful in his new job of running the New York Knicks. “He’ll have plenty of guys in the league willing to help him, myself included,” Jordan told ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith. “The only problem is none of us will be willing to give up great players or draft picks to do that. That’s the part of the job all of us have found pretty difficult, me included. But I wish him luck. I believe in him, and I’m confident anything he does will work eventually.”

* Speaking of the Knicks, forward Carmelo Anthonyv is a pending free agent. And a prolific scorer. And a pending free agent who can sign a more lucrative and longer contract with the Knicks that he can elsewhere. So he is talking of being willing to change for the Zen Master. “What I’ve been able to do these past 10-11 years has gotten me at where I am right now,” Anthony said after Monday’s practice. “If Phil wants to come in and change that this late in my career, if it’s going to help me win a championship, I’m with it.” Well, that would be interesting. Knicks fans would be advised not to hold their breath waiting for that scenario to play out.
