Bulls Face Tall Task — With or Without Noah

March 27, 2013 @ No Comments

Midweek musings: Chances are Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah will not play against the Miami Heat on Wednesday (March 27). Meaning the chances of the Bulls ending Miami’s 27-game winning streak will be even more diminished than they were with starters Derrick Rose and Rip Hamilton sidelined. Of course, there is the possibility Noah will play. Just as there is the possibility the Bulls will win, regardless of Noah’s status. Not much of a possibility as long as LeBron James is available to play for the Heat. But you never know. OK, so you do know. Keeping the game competitive would appear to be a challenge for the Bulls.

Maybe the Bulls will have some leftover luck against Miami.

* Speaking of injuries, the White Sox have placed left-hander John Danks on the 15-day disabled list. He is coming off shoulder surgery that he underwent in August. The move was not unexpected. “If he continues to progress the way he has over the last several months since the surgery, he’s absolutely going to contribute and we feel in a big way, not only this year, but obviously for several years, too,” Sox general manager Rick Hahn said.

* On the bright side for the Sox, their April 1 season opener at U.S. Cellular Field is a sellout. Former Sox outfielder Bo Jackson will throw out the ceremonial first pitch. During his playing days, he could have done so from the outfield wall. Meaning his arm today might be stronger than Danks’.

* Meanwhile, the Cubs have seats remaining for their home opener April 8. Meaning it might be a long season for the franchise in terms of attendance. Well, until the weather turns warm and Wrigley Field once again turns into what has been termed “the world’s largest outdoor bar.” Sobering thought, no? No.

* Northwestern University reportedly has interviewed Chris Collins, Duke’s associate coach, for the Wildcats’ job as basketball coach. Duke has an NCAA tournament game on Friday. Meaning interviewing Collins is about as close to the tourney as the Wildcats have been in school history.

Here we go for some video that the editorial staff at elliottharris.com considers non-gratuitous. Then again, it doesn’t consider much to be classified as gratuitous. We like to think of it merely as being broad-minded:
