Broncos-Seahawks Super Bowl Definitely Cool

January 20, 2014 @ No Comments

Monday meanderings: The Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks are in Super Bowl XLVIII. The game will be in New Jersey. The good news for Broncos and Seahawks fans who travel to to the Feb. 2 contest is they won’t have to worry about bringing warm-weather clothes or whether last season’s swimsuit fits.

Playboy Playmate Jaime Edmondson correctly predicted which NFC team would reach the Super Bowl. In case you were wondering.

* Speaking of fitting properly, Seahawks defensive back Richard Sherman had a brief postgame interview with Erin Andrews in which he ranted about 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree before she sent things back to the folks in the Fox broadcast booth. Consequently, he was much criticized in social media. Because postgame interview are such sacrosanct experiences. If you want a solid interview, you generally go to a quarterback. Sherman’s end-zone deflection that led to an interception to halt the 49ers’ final drive was the reason Andrews interviewed the Stanford grad after Seattle’s 23-17 victory. Networks don’t do postgame player interview for rational analysis; they want emotion. Sherman gave that big-time.

* You have to admit 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh, the former Chicago Bears quarterback, has more than a touch of Mike Ditka in him on the sidelines when he is bemoaning calls that go against his team. One casual observation: Ditka’s pants seemed to fit better than Harbaugh’s appear to.

* Speaking of Bears QBs, any similarity between Denver’s quarterback (Peyton Manning) and a former Broncos QB (Jay Cutler) is purely coincidental. If you cannot see the difference in the two QBs, then you haven’t been paying attention. Something says the closest Cutler will come to Manning is if he shouts out “Omaha” on an audible when the Bears are on offense next season.

” Speaking of Omaha, Manning raised $24,800 for the mention of that Nebraska city. Eight businesses, which said they would donate a combined $800 for every time he said “Omaha” during his play-calling, will donate the money to his Peyback Foundation. For the mathematically challenged (such as your humble correspondent), Manning said “Omaha” 31 times against the Patriots.

* The closest any QB came to looking like Cutler was when San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick lost a fumble when he was attempting to pass and when he threw a couple of interceptions.

* Detroit Tigers pitcher Justin Verlander tweeted regarding Sherman: ‘If he played baseball he would get a high and tight fastball’ Which explains why Sherman plays football. And Sherman plays a position that is able to deliver the football equivalent of a high and tight fastball.
