OK, so now we know why Derrick Rose has been spending so much time in street clothes. He is a magazine cover model. OK, maybe that’s not the reason, but the Chicago Bulls guard and reigning NBA Most Valuable Player is on the cover of the May issue of GQ magazine that is out April 24.
He is the subject of an interview by Will Leitch. You can read the story here.
Among the highlights:
* “I can read people very well just from watching the things you do, just by how people talk. I’m quiet, so I’ll sit here and not say anything and watch you for a couple of minutes, and I can tell what you’re about.”
* “Chicago isn’t used to stardom. They still don’t know how to act towards a celebrity, so I always have someone with me. I can have a hat on, glasses, whatever. People still notice me. If I go outside without a hat on, I feel like I’m naked. This lifestyle doesn’t fit my personality.”
* “I won’t ever put myself in a bad position so that people can say bad things about me. I make smart decisions. I’m very mature for a 23 year old and I know that whatever I do can hurt someone.”
* “When we used to play in the park, there were no fouls, so that’s why I shoot the crazy shots I do. Because I knew I was gonna get fouled, but I still got to make the shot.”
A GQ video featuring Rose:
As promised, here are videos of the Luvabulls from Monday night’s game against the Washington Wizards. Although the Bulls might have been thrown for a loss by Benny the Bull’s Birthday Bash, the lovely Luvabulls didn’t miss a step:
Also as promised, more video from the C2E2 2012 (Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo) that was held at McCormick Place April 13-15. Today, we are pleased to present Phoenix (although something says that might not be her real name and/or identity, but she was having fun — and we are a big fan of fun):
