Bulls’ Drive Is Definitely One for the Books

March 9, 2012 @ No Comments

The Chicago Bulls’ 99-96 loss to the Orlando Magic on Thursday was a textbook example of how it is not advisable to give up 37 first-quarter points and expect to win.

Speaking of books (oh, isn’t that a clever segue?), the Bulls are teaming with Rush University Medical Center for a children’s book drive on Saturday (March 10) before the Bulls game against the Utah Jazz at the United Center to benefit Bernie’s Book Bank. You don’t have to be at the game to donate. There will be a virtual book drive at Bulls.com/bookdrive and eight other locations to drop off new and gently used children’s books (suitable for infants through 13-year-olds).

Read all about it -- in an item below -- with MMASF ring girl Melissa.

Fans at the United Center may drop off book at any admission gate before the 7 p.m. game. Fans who do donate to the book drive will be entered into a raffle for an autographed Derrick Rose jersey.

Donations also are being accepted through March 12 at eight other city and suburban drop-off locations.

Basketball legend Oscar Robertson, former NBA player and coach Gene Shue and bikini competitor Francine Slobodnik (listed in order of appearance on the program) were the guest on Thursday’s “Sports & Torts” program with attorney David Spada and Elliott Harris on talkzone.com.

Francine Slobodnik was a great guest for David Spada and Elliott Harris.

As is the case with every show, it is available on podcast. To take in the program, click here. Francine won the Class A amateur division at the 2012 Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio, in her first competition. Not sure how you improve on that — other than by also winning the overall crown. That title went to Ashley Kaltwasser.

If things go according to plan (and every once in a while around here, they actually do), Ashley will be featured soon with a video from her post-Arnold photo shoot with Don Bersano.

Persons interested in becoming an advertiser on “Sports & Torts” may contact David Spada at david@injuryinillinois.com.
