Losing Sleep Not as Bad as Losing Games

October 5, 2014 @ No Comments

Sunday smorgasbord: There I was in the midst of the creative process when The Wife woke me up. There was a leak in the ceiling and that had woken her up. Someone was coming to fix the problem. OK. Except the room looked unfamiliar. So she had to repeat herself over and over for me to comprehend (more than the usual over and over).

After a while (longer than it should have been), I realized we were in a hotel room. Someone did assess the problem with the result being we changed rooms. Oh, and the price for our troubles would be cutting the cost of the room in half. So I guess we can’t complain.

Then again, this adventure at 4 a.m. did cost me some time (OK, it cost me some sleep; and I really should have been creating breathless prose typing).

Anyway, here I am trying to craft together some coherent thoughts type, and I have been thrown a bit off my game.

Speaking of games, there were some great ones Saturday. College football and National League Division Series contests. Probably even in some other sports, too.

But you’re going to have to read about those elsewhere. Because I want to get to sleep before it’s time to change rooms again. So there will be a mere minimum of new information today (as opposed to other days?). Besides, I’m pretty sure I’ve typed enough text to provide something to run alongside a photo of a pretty female. Pretty shallow? Well, beware of going off the deep end.

Anyway, here is what’s new today:

* From the fine folks at Bovada, (www.Bovada.lv, Twitter: @BovadaLV) come some baseball odds:

2014 AL Cy Young – Odds to Win
Felix Hernandez 2/3
Corey Kluber 11/10

2014 NL Rookie of the Year – Odds to Win
Jacob DeGrom 1/3
Billy Hamilton 2/1

2014 NL MVP – Odds to Win
Clayton Kershaw 1/2
Giancarlo Stanton 3/1
Andrew McCutchen 3/1

In case you were wondering about the odds on some of the other awards, Bovada sent along this message: Note: The NL Cy Young and AL MVP and Rookie of the Year are foregone conclusions with Clayton Kershaw, Mike Trout, and Jose Abreu respectively, and the odds would be set too high.

Wake me up for the NFL and American League Division Series games Sunday. Until then …
