Bulls’ New Tune: All You Need Is Love

July 24, 2014 @ No Comments

Thursday thoughts (or reasonable facsimiles thereof): A report Wednesday floating around had the Chicago Bulls willing to part with Taj Gibson, Doug McDermott and Nikola Mirotic to obtain Kevin Love from the Minnesota Timberwolves. It’s unclear whether the Bulls actually would part with the aforementioned players or whether their names being out there is intended to increase Minnesota’s asking price in dealing with the Cleveland Cavaliers (featuring LeBron James).

* It’s unclear how the names of the Bulls players got thrown out there, but if the proposed deal fails to go through, the team is going have to deal with Gibson’s hurt feelings. First the Bulls sign Pau Gasol (which would seem to keep Gibson on the bench rather than become a starter) and now this. Oh, my! If there’s no deal, coach Tom Thibodeau will find a way to deal with it.

* Neither Jose Abreu of the White Sox or Anthony Rizzo of the Cubs hit a home run, and their teams lost. Someone must have played well for a Sox and a Cubs minor league team (possibly more than one someone for more than one team), but some of us are so tired as today’s post is being crafted typed, we really don’t care as much about that as we do finishing and going to sleep.

* For what it’s worth, the fine folks at Bovada, (www.Bovada.lv, Twitter: @BovadaLV) have some baseball-related odds that they sent over last week. Meaning the numbers might have changed slightly (if you’re so inclined to use these numbers to make a friendly wager with someone — purely for entertainment purposes, of course):

* If it’s Thursday (and the chances seem fairly good — provided that today is July 24, 2014, or a subsequent Thursday), then it is time for another edition of “Sports & Torts” with co-hosts David Spada and Elliott Harris at noon Central time on Talkzone.com. This week’s show features Ken “Hawk” Harrelson, the former big-league baseball player and pro golfer and currently the television play-by-play voice of the Chicago White Sox. The show also will become available on podcast later Thursday at Talkzone.com.
