Chicago Bliss Yields to L.A. Temptation in LFL Opener

April 20, 2013 @ No Comments

The Chicago Bliss made its season debut in the Legends Football League on Friday (April 19) at the Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Ill. The LFL is what used to be the Lingerie Football League. The basic difference between the current and previous versions of the team — as far as uniforms go — would appear to be that the 2013 edition does not come with garter and lace.

This is Ogom Chijindo of the L.A. Temptation in a photo from a previous season. Which explains the garters.

The basic difference between the current team and its 2011 predecessor (for some reason, the LFL did not have a 2012 season for its U.S. teams) is the 2013 squad is a bit bigger physically.

The team also might be a bit better athletically, although the onfield result did not indicate such in the final score.

Which was a 31-18 loss to the defending champion Los Angeles Temptation before a crowd estimated at about 1,000 (give or take a few hundred either way).

A fourth-quarter fumble recovery on an errant pitchout from Heather Furr to ChrisDell Harris and return for a touchdown by L.A.’s Ogom Chijindu broke the game open.

Harris started off the game’s scoring with a touchdown run on the Bliss’ opening possession.

L.A. quarterback Ashley Salerno led the Temptation to a 13-12 halftime lead that it never relinquished.

You humble correspondent would write more, but is too tired to do so (some excuse, no?). It has been a long week and long night, so here’s hoping the prospect of more Bliss videos in the coming days will offset any disappointment that some of the folks out there in cyberspace might be feeling at the moment.

Members of the Chicago Bliss are in a playful postgame mood to accommodate fans.
